OVERVIEW

Our client has personally overseen the design and construction of this quite exceptional modern home. Whilst this has been a residential development project, the house has been designed and built with an unusually high level of care and attention to detail, with overall cost not being a factor in order to create such a wonderful property.

The property stylistically blends the traditional façade of a double fronted Georgian style house with a more contemporary rear section to take advantage of the spectacular views. Dressed ashlar, with a cornice and parapet, slate tiled roof and sash windows form the front elevation, with the sides being of coursed rubble stone. The more modern rear to the building is of English oak faced sections which blend softly with the surrounding landscape, and large expanses of glazing.

Entering the house via the front door you are greeted by an atrium style hallway where you can see up to the roof. There is a cloakroom with wc and handbasin. A beautiful oak pivot door by Urban Front leads through to the quite incredible open-plan kitchen, dining and living space, and you are immediately struck by the wonderful distant views across the valley. The floor is polished concrete, giving the room a great feeling of space. The kitchen is in a contemporary style by Porcelanosa and there is a large central island housing the ceramic hobs with extractor above. There are very large glazed sliding doors opening onto a beautiful deck to enjoy the views. To the rear of the kitchen is a good sized utility room, plumbed for a washing machine, dryer and American style fridge. There is a fitted wine cooler. A back door leads out to the side garden. To the side of the kitchen is a sitting room and to the front of the house is a study.

A beautifully crafted oak staircase leads up to the first floor bedroom accommodation where you find a wonderful master bedroom with obscured glazed window to the front of the house and beautiful views up the valley on the other side of the room. There is a large en-suite bathroom with shower, and a dressing room. Also on the first floor are three further bedrooms, one being en-suite, a generous family bathroom with shower, and a large airing cupboard with pressured water cylinder and Viessmann boiler.

The first floor landing has a superb feeling of light and space and there is stone-faced feature wall with its own lighting, which creates a dramatic backdrop. There is also a large understairs cupboard.

On the second floor you find a very good sized double bedroom and a small single bedroom that could be used as a study, both with under-eaves storage. A shower room completes the top floor.

EXTERNALLY

The gardens have been well laid out. To the front of the property there is generous gravel parking for a number of vehicles. To one side is a double garage, which is faced in western red cedar and has an electrically operated garage door. There is a side access to the garage, leading out to a finely turfed garden with a number of pleached hornbeams, creating a well enclosed and private feel. This leads around to the rear of the house, which is decked and provides a great place to enjoy the dramatic views. The front driveway area is accessed via two original stone pillars and a large, sliding electrically operated oak gate.
